Who knew insomnia was contagious?

I love to sleep. I need my sleep. In fact, sleep is dangerously near the top of my most favorite things to do list. When I had little kids that didn't sleep, it WAS my most favorite things to do list.

So why is it that I seem to attract people who don't sleep into my life? The last three friends I have made don't sleep. My seven-year old daughter has recently become afflicted with bedtime anxiety for which I cannot trace a source nor find a lasting cure.

Personally, I have had eight hours of sleep in the last, oh sixty four and counting. That is one hour of sleep for every eight hours awake. I normally average closer to a 1:2 ratio, when I'm getting what I need. I woke up at 5am this morning, after three hours of fitful sleep, and ran full speed ahead all day long. I thought for sure I'd be ready to crash tonight, but here I am, still wired, over nineteen hours later.

Is it the power of suggestion? I have to admit, these insomniacs masquerading as friends are incredibly cool. Maybe I'm just subconsciously trying to be like them. Yeah, I'm sure that's it. I think it's more likely that my new vitamins are laced with meth.

Oooooh! I just yawned.

Confessing my problems and failures online to strangers - works every time.

  1. Does Tylenol PM work for you? It does wonders for me. I only have to take one and I am out for the night! I hope it gets better! Sleep is one of my favorite things too.

  3. Maybe record a golf game to watch next time you can't sleep. That works for me everytime. Especially if one of the announcers has a Scottish accent. I find that to be very soothing. :D

  4. I love Tylenol PM, but now I take Tamazapan for my fibro stuff. It works wonders and is not suppose to be addictive. Sometime I don't take it and I still sleep, but it seems to help me get to the good stage 4 sleep. Also Kava Kava or Valerian root are great sleep aids.
But what is the underlying root of this sleep disturbance? Any thoughts on that.

  6. :snort:

I mentioned your comment to my honey, and he said, "Hey, as long as it's not about my sex life..."

So I am assuming that means that colorful posts/comments on my blog are o-kay as long as it's about someone else's husband, so share away, Di! :snicker:

Wait. Do you think this comment qualifies as being about his sex life? Even though I was only quoting him saying as long as it wasn't about his sex life, is even a reference to him referring to his sex life a post about his sex life??

It is all so very confusing, this walking the thin line of propriety and spousal approval. I suppose I should nail down the rules with him. (yeah, like I'm going to start that conversation anytime soon.) Until then, I guess I'll just err on the wild side and ask forgiveness later. Or hoping he doesn't read my blog all that often...

Wooo - anxiety is a drug, I am deciding. How far can I go here without making my husband mad at me? Wondering did he read it yet? kinda gives me a rush, ya know?

Staying up reeeelly reeelly late does too. Wheeeeeee!
