Eighteen years ago today, I married my soulmate. It is without a doubt the best decision I ever made.
Here's a picture of us on our wedding day.
We were pretty hot, dontcha think? Of course, most people are at the ripe old age of 21. Ahem.
And it's a very good thing we were so hot. Because we got married in the Idaho Falls Temple. The Idaho Falls Temple is in Idaho. Idaho in December is a very cold place. And on the day we got married, Idaho was the coldest place Idaho had been in 35 years. The high temperature that day was -12 degrees Farenheit. I know! I am shivering just remembering. I have never been so cold in my life as I was driving to Idaho Falls early that morning, wearing a knee length dress, nylons, and black pumps.
Here we are out in the minus 12 degree sunshine to take a picture to prove we got married in the I.F. Temple. We had to hold our breath so there wouldn't be white clouds of steam in front of our faces.
No one else in the wedding party would even come outside for the picture! So it was just the photographer (thanks dad!), my handsome groom, and me. Family loyalty runs shallow in Idaho in December.
But because we were hot, so we didn't mind. Funny what dizzying happiness does to a person's senses, isn't it?
Awww. Happy Anniversary :)
ReplyDeleteYes family loyalty does run shallow in Idaho when it is -12. And hey I resemble that remark. I said it before and I'll say it again, my brother is one lucky dude to have found you. Thanks for being such a great SIL through thick and think, I have loved the last 18 years.
ReplyDeleteAwesome picture. I hope to someday be the size again that I was in mine, when I was 20 and hot . . .
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! LOVE that pic of you two outside...it is breath taking all the white
ReplyDeleteYou two are just adorable. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'd do it all over again too, Lisa. Your mother and you, thanks for comeing to our home.
ReplyDeleteAww, don't you 2 look so adorable? You look so young and so in love. And so flippin' cold! Did you decide that for your something blue would be your lips?
ReplyDeleteHOTHOTHOT!! My parents were sealed in the IF templs (back in the day when you got married civilly first so that you could travel unchaperoned to the temple to your sealing--heaven forbid your parents should be there for that--too expensive for everyone to go!) and I daresay it was warm enough for the waterfall to actually flow when they got married.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!! You look so cute!! I can't imagine how cold that would be! I'm cold sitting here in front of the computer... maybe I'll go get some hot cocoa... Mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, congratulations!
Congrats! You make 18 years look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, It is very funny I was telling my kids about that day, in response to their pleas to just leave the pop in the car. I will never foget how it exploded all over the van.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your cold and wonderful day. I'm so glad that you joined the family.
At night it was lower than -30 for a week. I had family cars that wouldn't start, and I spent lots of time thawing things out.
ReplyDeleteThat evening squelched the reception, it was so cold. I'm sure more would have come if it had been warmer. But, hey, it's something that we will never forget!
Then when we went to Washington for the after honeymoon reception, they/we had a record snow storm! Lisa, you and Tom were so special, nature tried to thwart. But we were thwart thwarters. Hee Hee.
OMgoodness, OMgoodness. You guys were HOT HOT HOT HOT. Gorgeous photos. And funny post. hee hee And I'm disappointed in your family loyalty. But as always, the OBG comes through!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary.
Great post! I am ever so glad that you joined our family too. You have been a great blessing not only to Tom, but to all of us.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know, you do look hot!!! There must some law of physics that I missed in school, looking that hot when the surrounding temperature is so low.
That was the dang coldest trip we ever took. Kris is right. I remember the soda exploding in the back of the van and the shaving lotion which is almost all alchol freezing solid. The plastic handle of my temple bag just shattered when we tried to lift it out of the car. But it was worth it. Beautiful bride. Handsome groom. Beautiful temple. Beautiful start to a wonderful marriage. The stuff eternal dreams are made of!
Holy cow I can't even imagine anything being that cold. Holy cow holy cow.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, those pictures are so cute!
It was a cold cold trip in the back of the 1976 chevy van with no heat in the back and very little in the front I am amazed that we made it there in one piece after 21 hours of traveling straight ahh good ol' family togetherness. shessh
ReplyDeleteany temperature that starts with the - sign is not acceptable... HOWEVER! For a sister/cousin/aunt/friend/whatever - you gotta at least tolerate it for a minute or two!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking good girl!
Oh! I love love love looking at those pictures! Too bad I couldn't go to that wedding. Pretty sure I was there as a spirit though!! Cheering on the happiness!
ReplyDeletePS thanks for passing on your hotness to me :) hahaha
Oh...HAppy Anniversary! I know I'm late...but I loved this post and you guys DO look HOT in a CHILLED sort a way! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories!!! You guys look almost as young as we do in our wedding pictures. :)
