Do I get a Holiday too?

I have decided that I am against Holidays. And this is why:

Husbands get a day off from work. Kids get a day off from school. And I get a day off from, what exactly? Solitude? A quiet house that stays clean? Getting to do what I want instead of being on call to five people?

To me, a holiday means there are more people in the house eating, making noise, quarreling, and otherwise making work for me than there would otherwise be. Now that all my kids are in school full time, Holidays are a pain in the rear end.

But I'm not bitter about it, or anything.

And please don't try to make me feel better or solve it or try to talk me out of it. I'm just sayin'.

That is all.

  1. Yup.

I love to camp, but in my house, it all comes down to me: the initial idea to go, the additional push to do it, the packing, shopping, meal prep....

Although I admit that my control issues are part of the problem. It's just that when I delegate, we end up with situations where people (not necessarily children, either...) forget to pack underwear. Even though I've made them a list.

My idea of a holiday is an all-inclusive resort where they do EVERYTHING.

  2. So really.... Right now with a house still full of little ones, I don't get any days off or holidays but when my kids get into school then every day (at least five days a week) is a holiday??? SWEET!!! :)

  3. All my days are holidays, and then when I go to Lisa's it's a super holiday! And I'm chugging down on there on the 12th. See you there Norm and Marge!
