We attended church yesterday, as we are wont to do. At the end of the meeting as I was opening my hymnal to sing the closing song, I looked over in response to my son's whispered "Psssst! Mom!" And this is what I saw.
I had to squint to see what he was holding so proudly in his hand.
In a 70 minute worship service, my 11-year old son and his 14-year old sister had produced no less than FOURTEEN origami paper swans.
I am so proud.
lol...seriously that is so funny! It's really interesting to see what people can get done during a sacrament! I for one, wrote in TWO journals! Pretty impressive! lol!
ReplyDeleteDUDE! I can't believe you TOOK the picture DURING SACRAMENT MEETING!!! Oh man, you are a pro blogger. No fear. Talk about recalcitrant. Not even the wrath of God can keep you from a great blog post. I covet your bravery and your blog!
ReplyDelete*Walks away with head hung low*
Relax - it was during the closing song and I used my phone. I don't think the bishop noticed. And I'm pretty sure God thought it was funny!
ReplyDeleteAt least they weren't making paper frogs and then jumping them into other pews. :D
ReplyDeleteHey, that's impressive! My husband keeps asking me it would be okay for him to knit during Sacrament (yes, he's the knitter in the family, not me). I tell him no, not because I really think it's bad, but because I don't want to be the only one keeping the kids in line. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd be struck by lightening if you took photos in the chapel. I was once.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet you lived to tell the tale. You are going to tell the tale, right?
ReplyDeleteAhh, Lisa, you give me hope and realization that I'm not the only one who deals with such things in his family on Sunday's. My two daughters practically bring an art studio to church and draw the entire time. I'm trying to encourage weaning them away from this attitude, but alas, I'm outvoted (and my wife is no help at all on that front (LOL!) ).
ReplyDeleteokay... so... I am just wondering??? Before that point... were they quiet? No hair pulling?
ReplyDeleteI'd say, at that age... count your blessings and buy paper stock...! BTW, they could have been drawing pictures of the bishop with a dagger though his heart... had that one going on down my pew, one time... so had to have a whole discussion about what respect ISN'T... (Come on kids, even when you are a little peeved at the Bishop, that is just not right...!)
That's pretty talented right there! I have to ask - where did they get the paper? I hope not from the hymnal :-)
ReplyDeleteWho knew that church was so good for fine motor skills?
ReplyDeleteO.k., since I've put my face on your blog now. I guess I can't be a lurker any more and will have to comment. I just want you to know that I'm a friend of Pat's. SO I'm not a competely random stranger. She got hooked on reading your blog. I'm completly addicted. But now that I've confessed, I'll comment. I know how important that is to you!
ReplyDeleteYes, I also LOVE that you took a picture in church, you rebel, you.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to clarify - I didn't mean that Antique Mommy was stealing my post, egads. I just meant that the moment she wrote about was kind of universally familiar. Hope that makes sense. I WISH she read my blog. I am not quite that cool yet.
Haha that was so fun to make those swans! I really did listen to the talks, too, though. Really.
ReplyDeleteSUE COMMENTED ON MY BLOG!!! Oh my stinkin' heck - the mormon mommy blogging diva has deigned to visit my humble site and actually left a comment!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me while I swoon.

ReplyDeleteI've taken photos in odd places before, and my family always rolls their eyes.
ReplyDeleteBut never in sacrament meeting...yet.:-)
I agree Lisa, I think you have arrived to have Sue comment on your bloog. wow I am green with envy. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not about pictures in Sacrament Meeting, it's about the Chapel. Thus the no pictures if one chooses to marry in the Chapel.
